Important Reminder: Make sure you are breathing!

Have you ever been in the middle of a workout and realized you are not breathing? 🌬️⁣Me too!

I have been talking about this with classes all week. So many of us clench our teeth, white knuckle the 'barre', and close our eyes to get through the hard shit. Maybe we think that will make it easier. Maybe it helps us forget. But trust me (and like...all the systems that keep you alive) when I say BREATHING IS IMPORTANT. ⁣

If you've been to my class, I tell you that getting your breath right is basically an ab workout. I'm not lying. But beyond the barre, focusing on your breath can make you feel so much better. ⁣

So....if you're reading this and you are at your desk, at the gym, on your way home, on the toilet, in bed, walking a dog, etc. TAKE A DEEP BREATH. ⁣

How to take a deep breath!

  1. If you are sitting, place your feet on the floor

  2. Roll your shoulders up towards your ears and then relax them down your back

  3. Slowly inhale through your nose until you feel your chest and your belly with air

  4. Hold this breath for a second. Exhale out your mouth (you can sigh it out!)

    OR

  1. If you are standing, ground your feet on the floor

  2. Roll your shoulders up towards your ears and then relax them down your back

  3. Tuck your tailbone down towards the ground and keep both hips facing forward

  4. Slowly inhale through your nose until you feel your chest and your belly with air

  5. Hold this breath for a second. Exhale out your mouth (you can sigh it out!)
