Reasons I love the Barre Ball

Recently, I have shared a few posts on Instagram and Tiktok demoing with the barre ball and I have some tutorials on my membership. A Barre ball, also known as a Pilates ball or an exercise or stability ball, is a versatile fitness prop that can be incredibly useful for a variety of reasons.

Here are some reasons I love the Barre Ball!

  • Core Strength & Engagement: Barre balls are excellent for strengthening the core muscles! Using the ball during exercises increases instability, requiring the core muscles to engage more to maintain balance. This is really great for people who tend to feel floor core work only in their neck or their hip flexors. They can be a great prop for folks who are pregnant, postpartum, and those who experience low back pain particularly during core work!

  • Engages Multiple Muscle Groups: Many exercises with the barre ball require the use of multiple muscle groups simultaneously, providing a full-body workout in a single session. Anyone who has used one knows…they bring on the barre burn in a different way!

  • Balance and Stability: Our ability to balance changes throughout our lives AND it is something that can be worked on through training. The instability of the ball forces your body to work on balance and stability, which can improve the awareness of your body's position in space. At the same time, using the ball in some moves can provide more support, which helps with the muscle engagement piece!

  • Variety: The barre balls add variety to your workout routine. They take moves you have been doing to the next level! You can use them for a wide range of exercises, from traditional Barre and Pilates moves to strength training, balance, and flexibility exercises.

  • Home Fitness: Barre balls are relatively inexpensive and don't take up much space, making them a convenient prop to add to a home gym or fitness routine.

I have already rolled these out (rolled…get it?) to my membership and they have had a LOT to say about them.

It was my first class using the barre ball…and it was TOUGH. I love Lauren’s classes because they are challenging but doable. She always reminds us that we can do hard things, it’s ENCOURAGED to take breaks and most importantly, it’s not that serious. I am thankful for the opportunity to be challenged and see what my body is capable of but even more so thankful for routine offers of modifications! 💜
